This award recognises exceptional leadership and recent achievements and promotes the pursuance of excellence in the delivery of health services in Australia.
Life membership to the College is an Award and honour that is bestowed by the Board after a Branch Council nomination. Any Branch may nominate one member each year to be considered for the award.
Nominees’ qualities include demonstration of the following:
Currently holding a key role in the health system and making a notable contribution to health services. This award provides recognition of this contribution. A nominee will have an outstanding reputation in the health system and will be supportive of the College and its objectives.
NSW Branch Leadership Recognition
The ACHSM Health Management and Leadership Competency Framework identifies Risk Management and Clinical Governance as an action competency relevant to the direct work of health managers and leaders.
On 3 Apr 2024 at the offices of Deloitte Sydney, the ACHSM NSW Branch along with speakers, Dr Cathy Balding, FCHSM GAICD, Director of Qualityworks and Dr Karen Luxford, FCHSM CHE, Group CEO, Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) & ACHS International took the opportunity to celebrate 23 health managers and leaders across NSW who every day play important roles in shaping the risk and safety culture of their team and/or organisation.

Prof Alan Cripps Award
This prize will be awarded to the student who achieves the highest program GPA in any of the Graduate Certificate programs offered by the Health Services Management discipline at Griffith University. One award is offered per academic year.
Michael Kalimnios Award
This prize will be awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall course marks in the course 7324MED Financing Health and Social Care completed by students as part of any postgraduate degree program offered by the Health Services Management discipline within the School of Applied Psychology, Griffith University. One award is made each academic year.
Sr Angela Mary Doyle academic award
Awarded to the Griffith University student who completes the requirements of the Master of Health Service Management or Master of Advanced Health Services Management with the highest GPA amongst all students graduating from these degrees in the awarded academic year. The recipient is expected to have a GPA of at least 6.0.
Meritorious Professional Service Award
The concept and purpose of this award is to recognise those individuals who, over a sustained period, have personally and professionally contributed to direct and indirect management and delivery of health and social care services; have provided strong and authentic leadership; have led by example; and have sought to engender professional approaches to leading and managing services in Queensland.
Award recipients will have demonstrated effective, authentic and sustained contributions to the health and social care sector over many years.
This award is an opportunity to applaud the determination and effort that the recipient has demonstrated over time within the health and social care sectors. A recipient’s leadership will be about building individuals, groups, organisations and system futures with creativity and vision.
Australia Day Award
The Australia Day Council recognises eminent and outstanding achievements through the Australia Day Awards. These awards advance the values shared by Australians - like a fair go, democracy, diversity, participation and endeavour. The awards are made at various levels ranging from national to local. Awards are announced as part of local Australia Day celebrations.
The purpose of nominating ACHSM members/other recipients is to recognise those who have displayed exemplary characteristics that advance the cause and purpose of the College, in particular the membership of the Queensland Branch.
Mr Claude Frencham was a foundation member of the College and contributed significantly to its early growth. He died on 24 August 1967 and following a State Council decision, a Claude Frencham Memorial oration was delivered by the State President, Mr A J Cunningham at the Annual General Meeting of the Branch held on 31 May 1968. Subsequently, supported by a donation from Mr Frencham’s widow, the Claude Frencham Memorial Fund was established.
The Award is made to member below the level of Fellow who has demonstrated by their ability, enthusiasm and achievement that they have contributed significantly towards the aims of the State Branch. The Award would is generally in the nature of a book or books suitably inscribed.
